Interview with Dennis Pitta

The interview was conducted as part of the University of Baltimore Stories: 100th Anniversary Oral History Project, directed by the Special Collections and Archives department at the University of Baltimore's RLB Library. It was conducted via Zoom application by Elizabeth Epps on September 22nd 2022. The interviewee is Dennis Pitta, Professor at The University of Baltimore, 1979-. Over the course of more than four decades, he taught a variety of marketing courses at The Merrick School of Business. Pitta has also published a number of academic articles and contributed to a number of publications over the course of his career.

In this interview, Dr. Dennis Pitta discusses his early education in the pharmaceutical field before transitioning to marketing and working within the University System of Maryland. Ultimately Pitta would become a professor and administrator in the Merrick School of Business and the director of the Chinese Executive MBA Program for UB. Pitta also discusses the commitment of his students, the marketing strategies of local Baltimore businesses and organizations, and the ways in which learning has changed due to the necessities of virtual classrooms.

Daniel Gerlowski

Interview with Daniel Gerlowski

The interview was conducted as part of the University of Baltimore Stories: 100th Anniversary Oral History Project, directed by the Special Collections and Archives department at the University of Baltimore's RLB Library. It was conducted via Zoom application by Courtney Trang on May 4, 2023. The interviewee is Daniel Gerlowski, an economics professor at the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business.

Gerlowski discusses growing up in Pittsburgh and earning a PhD at Pitt, before landing at The University of Baltimore. Gerlowski would go on to publish multiple textbooks as well as hold a variety of academic positions including time spent as an associate and interim dean. Gerlowski also remarks on the collegial community of the Merrick Business School and university at large, the resilience of the school and students to adapt to big changes, and memorable highlights from his teaching career.

Regina Bento

Interview with Regina Bento

The interview was conducted as part of the University of Baltimore Stories: 100th Anniversary Oral History Project, directed by the Special Collections and Archives department at the University of Baltimore's RLB Library. It was conducted via Zoom application by Bedell Terry on October 26, 2023. The interviewee is Regina Bento, Professor of Management at the Merrick School of Business and professor emeritus. Professor Bento, with a rich academic background, shared her experiences and insights from her time at the University of Baltimore, highlighting her journey from Brazil to the U.S., her teaching philosophy, and her contributions to the academic community. 

In this interview, Professor Bento appreciates the University of Baltimore's focus on practical learning and community engagement. She highlights its commitment to real-world applications in education and its role in fostering social responsibility among students.
