The Women's League

With a history of only one year, the Women's League can look back on a program of successful monthly meetings and outstanding activities. Sponsored by Women's Advisor Florence Koeder, this is the first attempt for a united club of co-eds of Day and Night Divisions.
Even before electing officers, the girls organized and carried out plans for two projects. Sixty guests including alumnae and wives of officials and faculty members attended their first, a tea to welcome Freshmen girls. Getie Levinson and Marjorie Henzler were co-chairmen of the Christmas party and were jointly responsible for the pleasant evening spent by
the still unorganized group. Their co-workers included Adele Welfeld, Ruth Goldstein, Sylvia Berman, M. Louise Evert, Helen Emig, Theresa Siejack, Alice R. Elliott, Marian MacDonald and Jean Kraus. Singing of Christmas carols, musical solos, exchange of small gifts and refreshments were included in the program. Both the tea and the party were held at a local hotel.
It was not until the second half of the year that the League felt itself prepared to elect officers. They chose the following to lead their organization: Getie Levinson, president; Marian MacDonald, vice-officer; Marjorie Henzler, secretary; and Helen Emig, treasurer.
The election in February was followed by another business meeting in March at which time the constitution, drawn up by Miriam Falk, was ratified and plans were laid for two other activities, the card party and the mother-daughter banquet. The committees appointed at that time included: Marian MacDonald, Leatrice Jacobs, Joan Orth and Francis Klein.
Plans are now being made for the second year of club work which should emulate the success of the initial term since most of the members will return in the fall.
